Milk Bath | Fine Art Photography
As an artist, there are just times when you need to make art for you. As a lifestyle photographer, I absolutely adore documenting families, weddings, engagements, and special life milestones. But I also love making art for myself. When I feel like I'm in a creative rut, I know it's time to try something new and different. Sometimes I need to step out of the normalcies of my photography business, and jump into something new, exciting, different, and truly creative.
"Milk bath photography" has been pretty popular recently amongst the photography community, but I finally decided to do it after an incredible assignment in my darkroom class. We were asked to imitate a famous photo or painting. I wanted to find something similar to this concept that I could attempt to recreate. The painting Ophelia be John Everett Millais was the perfect piece of art to find inspiration from. My friend, Samantha, was totally up for the adventure of soaking in a big kiddy pool of milk water. Not to mention is was around 60 degrees outside, and it started to rain mid-session. She was a trooper, and I couldn't have asked for a more perfect, gloomy setting. And here, my friends, is the product.
